Corporate Experience 2009-Chicago

12/18/2009

On Friday, December 11, 2009, the Corporate Experience class traveled to Hamburger University in Oak Brook, Illinois. Hamburger University offers worldwide training to McDonald’s regional managers. We enjoyed watching a video on the company history, marketing campaigns and learned more about how it is managed. It was interesting to see how McDonalds has expanded over the years, and the tour of the building was enjoyable as well.
After visiting Hamburger University, we traveled to Rolling Meadows, Illinois. Here we met with Jenkins Davis, Director of National Account Sales, at Komatsu . Mr. Davis was an alumnus of Culver-Stockton and shared his experiences he had here. He described how Komatsu was a provider of utility, construction, and mining equipment. It was fascinating to learn how different marketing techniques and technology can set you apart from another company. Ken Calvert also talked about Komtrax, which is a new monitoring system for their equipment. The advances in technology in their equipment were amazing. Mr. Davis allowed us to be very interactive and ask questions, so we learned a lot at this corporation. It was a great experience getting to visit Komatsu, and I would recommend it to anyone in the future.
The opportunities I had in Chicago were ones I will never forget. I am excited to learn more about the business world and can’t wait to see what Corporate Experience to Kansas City has in store next semester.
